LAS VEGAS, Nov. 4, 2009 – Jack ‘Doc” Watson, the man responsible for countless Hurst Special-edition vehicles and co-creator of the original Hurst “Jaws of Life” device, is teaming with Saleen Performance Vehicles, joining the company’s board of directors.
According to Watson, when he and Saleen owner and CEO Mike Shields began exploring the tremendous potential for the reinvigorated high-performance vehicle manufacturer, “The association just seemed like a natural fit for all involved.”
A performance industry veteran, it was during his years at Hurst that Doc Watson was instrumental in the creation of many legendary performance vehicles in partnership with General Motors, including the 1968 Hurst/Olds 442. Watson is also a credited with co-inventing the “Jaws of Life” rescue tool, originally developed for racetrack rescues, but now an essential tool of fire and rescue departments across the globe.
“Doc Watson is an innovator and an idea man,” said Shields. “Obviously he has a great passion for performance cars, and even better, a sterling reputation for getting things done.
